Ken Martin's '53 Stude

Salt2Salt Guys,
I recently discovered your website and love your car. I am building a combo Streetrod/LSR type car and when looking at your photos I found many similarities in how I am building my car. I just finished the frame and have painted the engine. I am building it similar to the Vintage Air car. Hope to travel to Maxton when it is finished. Some photos if you are interested.

I have always loved the 53/54 coupes and hardtops. My Dad and Uncle both had several when I was a kid. Living in this area, I grew up with Drag Racing and NASCAR but have dreamed of going to Bonneville one day. Now, we have Maxton not too far from Atlanta.. I have built several streetrods over the years. I live in Dacula GA near Atlanta. These bodies are not very plentiful in the southeast. I bought mine from a business in Colorado who deals in old cars. The car arrived without a hood and rusted a whole lot worse than described. Anyway, I decided to build a 53 in Bonneville style after seeing the Vintage Air car. I set out to build a low buck version of the same car.

Modifications: Front Suspension: FatMan Stage III Coilover Kit
Rear Suspension: Four Link with Carrera Coilovers
Frame: Intregal driveshaft loop/crossmembers, modified for 3.5 inch exhaust out the rear and ground clearance, outrigger support
Driveline: Richmond Gear R.O.D 6-Speed, Frankland Quickie, RAM 900 Series Clutch Assembly
Engine: BBC, 454 Block.030, Stroke 4.25, +.250 H-Beam Rods, Offenhauser 2X4 w/Holley 660's
Body: Front Air Dam ( like 743 car), Blanked Grills opening, Jeep Liberty Headlights, more stuff to come!

Next Steps:
Powder Coat the chassis parts, bellhousing, etc., Polish Intake and Quickchange rear cover and Tilton Brake and Clutch Pedals, Finish Welding Rollcage, and sheetmetal work. Assemble engine and fire for inspiration!!!!
